Although the main purpose is to restrict food intake, it has been observed that the hormones that control the feeling of hunger are significantly reduced due to surgery.
In addition, it causes a significant improvement in diabetes, a decrease in the need for insulin, a significant decrease in sleep apnea and a serious decrease in the number of drugs used in hypertension. Almost all of the patients lose at least 35-40% of their total weight permanently within 12-15 months. Although it is an irreversible method, long-term use of vitamin and iron drugs is not required and the risk of complications is quite low compared to other bariatric surgery methods.
After the patient is admitted to the hospital on the day of surgery, his preparations are completed and he is taken into surgery. The operation takes 45-60 minutes on average and the patient returns to bed within 3-4 hours. Our patients who start walking at the 4th hour do not have any serious pain complaints after the 6th hour. Patients who can drink water on the 1st day after the surgery continue their fluid intake by passing the necessary tests as of the 2nd day and they leave the hospital on the 3rd day.
